Collection: 1837 Wake Forest Greek Revival
Here at the Ivy Fence, each of our reclaimed pieces tell a story. This collection was salvaged from the South Brick House in Wake Forest, North Carolina. This Greek Revival-style brick house is the only surviving of the three original buildings built by architect and builder John Berry in 1837 for the newly formed Wake Forest College. It was originally used as a home for Professor Amos J Battle.
The house was altered in the 1880s, including a rear addition and a "gingerbread" porch. In addition to the house, there are several historic outbuildings associated with the property, including the original kitchen, smokehouse, and barn.
The South Brick house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
