Collection: 1899 Wake Forest Queen Anne
Here at the Ivy Fence each of our reclaimed pieces tells a story and any piece that is part of the 1899 Wake Forest Queen Anne collection does just that. The town of Wake Forest's first industry, the Royall Cotton Mill, was built in 1899 by three brothers-in-law, W.C. Powell, R.E. Royall and T.E. Holding, to produce muslin sheeting from local cotton. T.E. Holding also founded one of the first banks in Wake Forest and founded the town's first drug store.
The 1899 Wake Forest Queen Anne house was built by T.E Holding, where he lived until his death in 1932. The focal point of the house is the 95ft wrap-around porch with hand turned spindles and hand carved posts. The house contains 7 fireplaces, original transom windows over each threshold and architectural shingles in all the dormers.
The 1899 Wake Forest Queen Anne is part of the Wake Forest Historic District which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
